Workers of the Savannah Cement Company in Buipe in the Northern region have embarked on an indefinite industrial strike to demand higher pay raises.

This makes it the second time that workers of the company have embarked on an industrial action to demand salary increases. The workers have accused management of the company of being insensitive to their plight following three years of silence over their formal request for a pay raise.
The workers’ union and management have entered into negotiation to chart the best way forward for the company to enable it to resume operations.
